If I had to Evacuate in a Hurry.

May 23, 2008 at 4:11 pm (Uncategorized)

If there was for some reason i had to evacute my home and I could only save three things one I would choose my shoe box in which I keep important stuff such as my grandmothers and grandfathers obituary, a stone from there caskets, pictures, letters, and notes because these thing mean a lot to me and I would hate for them to be destroyed in a fire. Second I would most likely take my portfolio of accomplishment and certificates just because it helps me when trying to be apart of different activities, schools and camps when they see what ive accomplished. Third I would just make sure all of my relatives where out and safe.

Reflection Piece: Pepon Osorio

May 21, 2008 at 5:17 pm (Uncategorized)

Pepon Osorio best known for large-scale installations, was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, in 1955. Osorio pieces are influenced by his experience as a social worker in The Bronx. His education was at the Universidad Inter-Americana in Puerto Rico and Herbert H. Lehman College in New York, he also received an Master of Art from Columbia University in 1985.“En la barbaria no se llora (No Crying Allowed in the Babershop)” was one of many pieces from Pepon Osorio. This peice for Osorio was “about recreating his memory. When he was five years old his father took him to get his first haircut right around the neighborhood. And what was meant to be a celebration became disastrous event.”

This piece for me (before reading Osorio opinion) was more so representing the things that are spoken of and done at a barber shop, how men go and gossip just as much as women at a salon. For some men this is a vaction spot to get away from a wife, childeren, work or anything that can become stressfull. Others just to get their opinion on the newest subject such as sports, goverment, women, latest girl freind or wife and whats new on tv. This piece to me was about men going to a barber shop to ask question and let out emotions to get a respond from there fellow men.

creative thinking

Three creative ways that you could photograph an object to create emotion most emotion can be can be achieved with a good understanding of contemporary lighting, the use of modern styling, and a natural look and feel. The photo needs to give intimacy to the shot or the model should show strong emotion like the camara isnt there.Different colors invoke different emotions. Some are positive; some are negative depending on the viewer’ perspective and it give you a feel of what the picture is projecting ex. Black-angry,Red-daeth, pink-happy,White- calm.

Waking Life

 1) How do the animators create a sense of movement in the film?

From my point of view it looked as if the animators created a sense of movement by shadowing certain points also lighting areas, making the color glow or pop. Moving pieces almost vibrating back and forth and changing the color or shade of the background gave it/she or he a sense of moving.

2) Why do you think they decided to use animation instead of filming actual people? What message are they trying to send? Are they trying to create a specific mood by not using real people?

I’m not really sure why they decided to use animation instead of actual people maybe just to do something different most movie that are animated are for children. If trying to create a mood i would think it was comical.
